Here is our version of Venison Chili. (I use my own canned tomatoes and salsa). This venison chili is the perfect bowl of warm, comforting, and hearty chili to use that ground venison. This Hearty Venison Chilli (Venison Chili) is a comforting, filling chilli that will warm you up from the inside out. In large pan, saute venison until just cooked.

  1. Cook bell pepper and onion in a little olive oil in a large pot. I used half of 2 bell peppers.
  2. Once the vegetables are going, brown the meat WITH the spices down in a cast iron skillet of rippling hot olive oil.
  3. Add the meat into the pot once it’s browned and the vegetables are soft. Add the can of tomato sauce and beans.
  4. Let it all simmer (while you make some buttermilk cornbread) for maybe an hour.
  5. Serve with desired toppings.

Cook in batches if necessary to Add beans and cook for another hour, continuing to stir. The chili is done when it's thick enough to. This chili is our family favorite to make in the Instant Pot. Usually I make it with ground turkey, but we had a bunch of ground venison in the freezer from my hubby's last hunt. This chili is made in the slow-cooker.
